Many people don’t know it’s okay to have ceremonies and services in cherished places other than funeral homes and places of worship. At Funeral Choices, we don’t run a typical funeral home. And because we don’t, we’re not restricted to having services in our facility. This allows us to introduce families to a wide variety of service location options.
Locations for services are selected for many different reasons: How meaningful or relevant is the location to the celebration of their life? How much comfort does the location provide to family and community members? What is the availability of the facility? What is the cost of the facility?
You can choose to have a service almost anywhere. And Funeral Choices is committed to providing you with the largest variety of choices to better meet all your funeral service needs. For example, conducting a service at the VFW hall can be a patriotic tribute. Celebrating outdoors is also possible.
Keep in mind that ceremonies conducted in different locations can ease the discomfort and the stress that might occur when the ceremony is held in a typical funeral home. Having the family gathering elsewhere after the ceremonies lets you manage your grief without the added responsibility of managing a house full of people.
Some options you may want to consider include:

Many families find comfort in conducting services in their church or place of worship. Their faith and reaffirming their religious traditions can be helpful in dealing with the loss and the search for meaning. Funeral Choices has talked with many churches in your area to determine the best way to meet your needs during this difficult time.

Other families find the outdoors as an appropriate means to making their spiritual connection during funeral services. There are several options at local parks and other facilities set in natural settings. Plans for inclement weather need to be considered for this type of venue. Our funeral directors will be happy to review these types of options with you.

The celebration of a life can be made more special by having some or all of the services in a setting that reflects a particular passion of the person who died. A service for an art lover in the Columbus Museum of Art; or the Franklin Conservatory for that special gardener; or at Scioto Downs for the avid horseracing fan; or Oakhurst Country Club for the passionate golfer.

Many communities have meeting facilities that can be rented for an economical fee such as the Blue Moon Event Center. We have worked with these facilities to work out all the details involved so you don’t have to.

VFW, American Legion Halls, Masonic Lodges, Elks, Moose, and other fraternal facilities are also available for your consideration.
